A Lake Charles man was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend extensively during an altercation. He’s also accused of killing her dog during the fight after it began barking.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 18 at roughly 9:00 p.m. Deputies were called to a home on Gulf Highway in Lake Charles. When they arrived they found the victim suffering from injuries sustained in a fight.

The victim said her boyfriend, Sean L. Collett, 24, dragged her through the living room, choked her, and also struck her several times in the lower jaw and back. When she tried to flee, Collett allegedly smashed her hand with a door and grabbed her.

Investigators later learned that the victim’s dog was killed during the altercation. They believe Collett threw the dog against the wall several times after it started barking.

The victim was treated for her wounds at a local hospital and was released.

Collett was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Battery and Aggravated Animal Cruelty. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a bond of $30,000.
