Eight inmates implicated in attempt to smuggle drugs in Livingston prison

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (NBC33) — An attempt to smuggle drugs into the Livingston Parish Detention Center prompted the launch of an investigation. Today officials announced that eight inmates will be charged for participating in the act from the other side of the fence.
Investigators first arrested Kennie Wascom and Kimberly Blount after they were discovered in the possession of a large quantity of drugs outside of the Detention Center. Believing that the two were working to smuggle the drugs in the facility, the duo were arrested and face multiple charges.
The arrest of Wascom and Blount led investigators to launch an extensive investigation. They then identified 8 inmates as being part of the receiving end of the operation.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office filed charges of Conspiracy to Possess with the intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS for Daniel Ritchie, 35, of Walker, Stanley Gunter, 35, of Walker, Seth McCarroll, 32, of Livingston, Dexter Talbert, 36, of Denham Springs, Lloyd Simoneaux, 29, of Maurepas, Joseph Blount, 30, of Livingston, Sylvester Davenport, 24, of Denham Springs, and Benjamin Thomas, 33, of Livingston.
