The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Wednesday evening for the murder of his girlfriend.

The man originally alleged to detectives that she accidentally shot herself, though evidence on scene indicated otherwise. During a third interview, the man confessed to detectives.

Jason Bringier, 32, is charged with Second Degree Murder, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Obstruction of Justice and Possession of Marijuana.

Detectives responded to a call of a shooting at 1:00 a.m. on March 24th in the 3000 block of Toulon Drive. Lucinda White, 30, was transported to a local hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. She later died as a result of her injuries.

Bringier stated that White had been playing with the handgun when she left their upstairs bedroom to retrieve clothing in another room. He stated he heard a gunshot and ran into the room to find her bleeding. He called his mother prior to calling 911.

White's juvenile son was downstairs at the time of the shooting.

During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered a second handgun and marijuana in a garbage can outside of the residence.

Bringier later admitted to moving the 9mm pistol and drugs to the garbage can so they would not be discovered by deputies. Detectives interviewed Bringier a second time and he maintained his first version of events.

Detectives continued the investigation by interviewing numerous friends and family of the victim.

Detectives learned that Bringier was both physically and mentally abusive to White. Bringier was also described as a marijuana dealer.

Detectives brought Bringier in a third time, and he admitted to shooting the victim. He alleges it was accidental, though physical evidence supports it was intentional.

Bringier will be booked into parish prison on the above listed charges.
