Early morning shooting sends woman to hospital

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s detectives responded to a shooting at 4:42 a.m. at 9367 Ridgewood in which a woman was shot. The woman was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
According to reports, four men, allegedly local bounty hunters, were at the residence as part of an alleged fugitive recovery. Two of the men were at the front of the residence and two were at the back. The two men in the back of the residence opened a cracked window in order to gain entry and pointed a weapon inside. When the woman came to the window, one of the men fired a shot striking her.
The man that allegedly opened the window, Anthony Thomas, 24, will be charged with Home Invasion. The alleged shooter, Demarcus J. McKnight, 31, will be charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon and Principal to Home Invasion. Both will be booked into parish prison. This incident is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: An early morning shooting near Central leaves five children
in protective custody. It happened at 9376 Ridgewood at 4:45 this morning, according to East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies.
The victim, a woman whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. Detectives say the victim and the shooter know each other.
Neighbors tell us a bondsman was at the house trying to repossess a car around the same time as the shooting. Sheriff's deputies have not confirmed if that person was involved,
but a car was removed from the property while NBC33 News was on the scene.
