DWI arrest: No use of turn signal turns into high speed chase
Tuesday, March 5, 2013 - 2:03pm

An early morning high speed chase ended after the suspect crashed a vehicle, fled on foot and attempted to hide in an abandoned trailer.

The Thibodaux Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, March 5 at roughly 1:20 a.m. We’re told an officer attempted a traffic stop after observing a suburban make a turn without using a turn signal.

Officials say the suspect refused to pull over and fled at a high rate of speed. The officer pursued the vehicle into Terrebonne Parish. Eventually the driver, Donald James, Jr., 25, crashed into a parked car and then drove into a wooded area near Johnson Ridge.

James was eventually located in an abandoned trailer. He was taken into custody without further incident. Although no drugs were recovered in the vehicle, officials say a urine sample is being analyzed because of the potential for narcotic impairment.

James is charged with Aggravated Flight From an Officer, Resisting an Officer, DWI (second offense), and No Turn Signal. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
