Duo arrested for marijuana grow operation

Two men from New Iberia have been arrested after officials found over 20 marijuana plants as part of a grow operation.

On May 15, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated possible suspicious narcotic activity at 1700 Juanita Drive.

As a result of the investigation, agents were able to seize 24 Marijuana plants, various illegally possessed prescription medications and a small amount of marijuana. Two suspects were arrested at the residence at the time of the investigation. 

Jason Derouen, 32, was charged with Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, Operation of a Clandestine Lab, Possession of Schedule IV Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Second Subsequent Narcotics Arrest.

Blake Chastant, 29, was charged with Possession of Schedule III, Second Subsequent Offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both suspects were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
