Dry cleaner to plead guilty to improper chemical disposal
LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — A Lafayette Parish dry cleaner owner will soon be sentenced to prison time.
38 year-old Jason Bruno owns One Low Price Cleaners in Lafayette. He's pleaded guilty to disposing of dangerous dry cleaning chemicals improperly.
NBC33 was told he did it to save cash, so he wouldn't have to pay a special company to haul off the waste. DEQ official Tom Harris said that move was dangerous.
"It'll move through the water, through the water column to the bottom of the water, and then travel through soil, where it can impact ground water and drinking water supplies," said Harris.
