THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — Two men were arrested after they allegedly stole a television from a Wal-Mart. Officials say the driver of the getaway car was intoxicated and his accomplice had illegal drugs in his possession, but claimed they were “vitamins.”
The Thibodaux Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at roughly 1:00 p.m. We’re told a television had been reported stolen from the local superstore and an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one seen fleeing the scene.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on Canal Blvd. near West 9th Street and discovered the stolen television in the vehicle. The officer also found illegal drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Officials say the suspect Steven Lirette, 53, claimed that the drugs “were just vitamins.” The second suspect, Jarred Guidry, 31, was believed to be intoxicated and was issued a field sobriety test, for which he failed.

Guidry is charged with Theft of Goods, Reckless Operation of a Vehicle, DWI (first offense), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Expired Vehicle Registration. His bond was set at $4,050.
