Drug bust on I-10 leads to arrest of BR man
LAKE CHARLES, LA (NBC33) — Detective Corporal Kevin Hoover of the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) stopped a vehicle for following too close. Hoover stopped the car near mile marker 14 on Tuesday night at approximately 10:30 p.m.
The driver, Henry Allen Winks, 35, of Baton Rouge, claimed that he was traveling from Houston to Baton Rouge.
Hoover observed that Winks was acting suspiciously and requested permission to search the vehicle. Winks agreed to the search.
During the search, Hoover found approximately one pound of cocaine in a black backpack under the passenger seat.
Winks was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute over 400 grams.
The estimated street value of the cocaine was $60,000.
