Driver arrested for causing fatal crash after failing to yield
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A 61-year-old man from Gonzales was killed this morning in a crash and the driver who caused it was arrested.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the crash happened in the 18100 block of Petroleum Drive at roughly 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Officials say James Dunn was driving his motorcycle down Petroleum Drive when a vehicle being driven by Jerrick Treyon Sim, 24, pulled out in front of him. Dunn’s motorcycle hit the back of the car.
Dunn was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Sim was arrested and charged with Failure to Yield and Negligent Homicide.
