Department of Insurane agent accused of fraud
BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) —
A Ruston insurance agent was served by Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators, on September 27th, with a Notice of Proposed Action, License Revocation, and Civil Fine Notice for alleged misappropriation.
Achillea Kirkikis, 33, was served by the Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators, yesterday, with a Notice of Proposed Action, License Revocation, and $6,000 fine notice for misappropriation of annuity premiums.
It is alleged that Kirkikis misappropriated $111,000 in annuity premiums and provided the client with fraudulently altered annuity contracts that belonged to another person. He also allegedly promised to repay the funds on two occasions and currently owes a balance over $60,800.
On August 8, 2011, he was arrested by the Financial Crimes Task Force and charged with Theft in relation to these allegations.
According to Department records, Kirkikis was issued a Life and Accident and Health license in June 2002 which is active until revocation on October 27, 2011. Kirkikis has 30 days from time of service to appeal this action.
