A Livingston Parish man will spend 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to Molestation of a Juvenile, Cruelty to Juveniles, and Attempted Aggravated Rape.

The incidents occurred during a barbeque on July 2, 2010 at one of the victim’s home.

After the event, the 4-year-old victim and 6-year-old victim disclosed what had happened to family members. The children’s mothers quickly contacted police stating that their respective children had been sexually molested.

Marshall C. Sinclair, 49, was arrested by St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s officers and charged with two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile and one count of Cruelty to Juveniles.

Months later, the 7-year-old victim disclosed further details of the incident to another family member. At this time Sinclair’s charges were upgraded and amended to one count of Molestation of a Juvenile, one count of Cruelty to Juveniles, and one count of Aggravated Rape.

The charge of Aggravated Rape was amended to Attempted Aggravated Rape prior to the defendant’s plea.

Sinclair is still facing an Aggravated Rape charge in Tangipahoa Parish stemming from a separate incident.
