Crack cocaine, weapons found all over home of repeat drug offender

EUNICE, LA (NBC33) — When officers searched the home of a repeat drug offender they found several different types of drugs, including crack cocaine residue in his microwave and coffee mugs. The 23 year old has three prior arrests for drug offenses.
On June 14, the Eunice Police Department Narcotics Division received information indicating that Kenneth Chevis Jr. was selling crack cocaine from his residence. Surveillance was then conducted on Chevis.
During surveillance he was observed making several trips back and fourth from the residence. Officers then approached Chevis near the residence and advised him of the complaints made against him. Chevis then gave consent to search the premises.
Officers located crack cocaine, marijuana, and $1900.00 in his possession during the search and he is unemployed. Officers then located located a 9mm semi auto pistol, magazines, 9mm ammunition, a digital scale and a whisk with cocaine residue. Crack cocaine was then located underneath and inside the microwave along with coffee mugs containing crack cocaine.
All evidence and contraband was seized from the scene and the suspected narcotics were tested. Warrants were then issued for the arrest of Kenneth Chevis Jr. from this investigation.
On June 25, Chevis was taken into custody and then appeared for line up. He was booked for Manufacturing Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Violation of the Uniform CDS Law, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, and Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses.
On June 27 Chevis appeared before Judge Ellis Daigle and his bond was then set at $37,000.00.
Chevis has 3 prior arrests for drug offenses from other law enforcement agencies.
A 2003 Buick LeSabre registered to Chevis was also seized since it was used for transport and sales of narcotics while under surveillance.
