A former employee turned himself in to authorities for allegedly setting fires at two separate Wal-Mart locations. A woman he shares a home with has also been arrested for allegedly participating in the theft of goods. Investigators are currently working to determine if she had any involvement in setting the fires that forced evacuations.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reports that a fire was set at the College Drive and O’Neal Wal-Mart locations on Saturday, Jan. 19. Reports indicate that an employee identified Paul Triplett, 31, as a former employee for the Siegen Lane Wal-Mart location.

Surveillance cameras at the College Drive location showed Triplett and a woman later identified as Quinteria Sanders, 21, taking a touch screen desktop computer from the store without paying for it. The computer is valued at just under $900.

Reports note that two children were with the couple as they committed the theft.

Sanders was arrested at her home by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Jan. 22 for Theft of Goods, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, No Child Restraint, and No Driver’s License on Person. Officials have not yet determined Sanders’ involvement with the arson cases. It is possible she could face additional charges at a later date.

Triplett turned himself in to authorities the same day. He was charged with Theft of Goods, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, two counts of Aggravated Arson, and two counts of Terrorizing.

Both Triplett and Sanders have been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Reports did not indicate the relationship of the two children to the couple.
