Couple arrested for identity theft in Iberia Parish

IBERIA PARISH, LA — Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on April 19, 2012 Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects involved in theft and issuing stolen checks.
Blake Anthony Semar, 29 and Brandy Segura, 31, were arrested and charged with monetary instrument abuse and theft.
Segura was charged with ten counts of monetary instrument abuse and theft, Semar was charged with sixteen counts of monetary instrument abuse and theft.
The two allegedly opened a checking account under a male victim’s identity and then received personal checks on that account. The two then purchased items at local businesses using the stolen checks for an estimated amount of $1,300.

Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
