A convicted felon is back behind bars after he was found in possession of a loaded semi-automatic weapon.

The Houma Police Department was contacted on Saturday, Dec. 15 by a concerned citizen. The caller told police that a man was forced at gunpoint into a van by an individual. A description of the vehicle was sent out to all officers in the area. A vehicle matching the description was spotted shortly thereafter on the Houma twinspan.

An officer conducted a traffic stop and located two men in the vehicle matching the descriptions given by the caller. However, no one had been taken by force. What officers did find was a loaded “Tech 9” semi-automatic weapon, and $2,500 in cash.

The suspect, Courtney Nixon, 33, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

It was also learned through the investigation that Nixon was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. He was also charged with Illegal Proceeds from Drug Transactions.
