A teen was arrested for allegedly shooting a man three times while attempting to rob him of his bicycle.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident happened on Thursday, Jan. 24 at around 2:30 a.m. on the 3200 block of N. Foster. We’re told the 16-year-old was wearing a ski mask when he approached the 44-year-old victim.

Officials say the teen left the man lying in the road and took off on his bike. Responding officers spotted the juvenile in the area and the teen allegedly ditched the bike and took off running.

We’re told the teen was located by K-9s in a school bus parking lot. Officers were able to recover the stolen bike as well as the gun they believe was used to shoot the victim.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is currently recovering from his injuries.

The teen was arrested for Armed Robbery, Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon and Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
