BRPD: Suspected bank robber caught near Staring Lane, Highland Road intersection

Baton Rouge Police tell us, they've captured the man they believe robbed the Regions Bank at 7777 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. BRPD worked with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office in the area around the intersection of Highland Road and Staring Lane to find the man. A BRPD Spokesman tells NBC33 investigators caught the man close to St. Jude the Apostle School. Baton Rouge Police tell us he's in their custody, and they'll be bringing him to the EBR Parish Prison to face charges.  

They've identified the suspected bank robber as 46 year old Labrick Refuge from St. Gabriel. BRPD Officers and EBRSO Deputies arrested Refuge in the parking lot of Saint Jude Catholic Church at 9150 Highland Road. He will be booked on First Degree Robbery Charges.

Right now, Wildwood Elementary School and St. Jude the Apostle School are both locked as Baton Rouge Police search for a suspected bank robber.

Baton Rouge Police say, a black man wearing a wig robbed the Regions Bank at 7777 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge earlier today. 

People nearby tell us they've seen dozens of Baton Rouge Police Department cars in the area of Highland Road's intersection with Staring Lane.

We talked with a parent of a St. Jude the Apostle School student who told us she got a recorded call from the school shortly after 2:00 pm, telling her that children were safe inside locked classrooms on the campus as a result of the police activity.

Baton Rouge Police say the bank robbery on Jefferson happened around 11:50 am, Friday. We're told the man handed a note to the bank teller demanding money, then took off on foot.

BRPD officials say they're working with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office to find the man.
