Police say they have not filed any charges in a case that resulted in the death of a 47-year-old man. However, the investigation is ongoing at this time.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 29 at roughly 3:35 p.m. It all started when a 27-year-old female saw someone inside her vehicle, which was located in the 3000 block of Lorraine Street.

Officials say the woman told her 28-year-old boyfriend and he armed himself with a wrench and went to investigate. He found Jerry Sheppard inside the car and confronted the man.

The two men became involved in a physical fight and the 28-year-old man allegedly hit Sheppard on the head with the wrench.

Sheppard was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He died the next day as a result of his injuries.
