Baton Rouge Police have arrested James Iles Johnson, 39, of Baton Rouge, in the 1995 double homicide of Patricia Jackson and Lester Yarbrough.

On January 4, 1995, Johnson and another unknown suspect entered the victims’ apartment on Florida Boulevard.

During the course of what was believed to have been a robbery, Johnson shot and killed Jackson and Yarbrough.

An infant was also shot during the robbery but survived.

Detectives who were on the case at that time, located a witness who was at Johnson’s mother’s house the same day of the murders.

According to the witness, Johnson entered his mom’s home crying, cursing, and making comments about the murders. He also stated that he shot a baby.

Johnson and his mother then allegedly made up an alibi to cover up the crime and a vehicle accident he was involved in while fleeing the scene.

Johnson is charged with 1st Degree Murder.

Anyone with further information on this case should contact Crime Stoppers at 344-7867 or the Homicide Division 389-4869.
