BRPD looking for shooting suspect

Detectives are attempting to identify a suspect wanted for a shooting that occurred on January 5th on at the Real Star Store located on Winbourne around 7:30 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot. The people in the store told the officers they had heard a shot but didn't know anything else.

A short time later, however, a victim showed up at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg and told detectives that he had been shot on Winbourne.

Investigators returned and viewed the store security cameras, which showed the victim and an unknown male in a white shirt and sweatpants, with a cross necklace, having an argument inside the store.

The two then walked outside and continued their argument. The suspect then went into his car, retrieved a handgun, and shot the victim, who ran back into the store and hid.

The suspect is a black male driving a red Chevrolet Impala. Anyone with information on his identity is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Division at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
