UPDATE 06-06-14: Christopher Jackson, 22, was arrested Thursday morning by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force for his involvement in Travis Mitchell’s shooting death.

Detectives are still unclear on the motive for this shooting.

Jackson was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with 1st Degree Murder.

ORIGINAL 03-04-14: Baton Rouge police responded to a shooting Wednesday night on North 35th Street, where 25-year-old Travis Mitchell died at the scene from gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived at the scene around 11:46 p.m.. They learned that several shots had been fired. Mitchell and an unnamed woman had each been shot.

Mitchell had been shot in the face and armpit area. The female victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motive and details surrounding this shooting are still being investigated.
