BRPD investigates rash of home invasions, sexual assaults

Baton Rouge — Baton Rouge Police are investigating three separate home invasions leading to the sexual battery of the residents. These crimes occurred in the Baton Rouge area over the last two days.
Detectives are currently uncertain if the incidents are related.
The first incident occurred on Sunday morning, Jan. 12, at 2:40 a.m. in the Tara/Goodwood area. The victim, a 78-year old female, heard a noise in the front of her home. When she went to investigate, she noticed that the drapes were parted on a front window.
An unknown man then grabbed the victim and forced her back to her bedroom where he assaulted her.
The second incident occurred in the Glen Oaks area on Sunday night, Jan. 12, at approximately 8:30 p.m. The 34-year old victim, who was alone in her residence, was awakened by the sound of her door being kicked in.
The suspect entered her bedroom where he grabbed her and attempted to assault her after covering her with a blanket.
The victim resisted the intruder and was punched on the face and upper body by the assailant before she was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s house where she contacted the police.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday morning, Jan, 14, at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the Webb Park area. The 73-year old victim was home alone. A struggle ensued when the suspect assaulted the victim, at which time he struck her several times around the face and head area before leaving the residence.
None of the women were able to give a description of the suspect. He has only been described as a male, about 6 feet tall, dressed in dark clothing, wearing gloves and something covering his face.
