Baton Rouge Police arrested Terry Casey Jr., 36, and charged him with First Degree Robbery.

Officers began investigating the robbery of a convenience store on Tuesday, Dec. 24. The incident occurred in the 500 block of St. Ferdinand Street at about 5:40 p.m.

The suspect, who was described as a white male wearing blue jeans, a green coat, and a beanie cap, entered the business and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect kept one hand inside of a green book bag, suggesting that he could have a weapon. However, no weapon was ever observed.

The clerk closed the register and threw the keys away from the suspect.

The suspect then took the register and smashed it on the ground until the cash drawer opened. He then fled the scene with the entire drawer.

He was last seen on a mountain bike, which had a rack attached to the back.

On Christmas day at about 3:45 p.m., deputies observed a man on a mountain bike in the 1500 block of Convention Street.

They recognized that the man’s physical appearance, clothing, and bike matched the description of the suspect from the Christmas Eve robbery.

Casey was then arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
