Baker, LA (NBC33) — An 18-year-old from Baton Rouge man is in prison after being accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Baker.
According to a police report, the 11-year-old victim was left home alone with her two siblings (12 and 14-years-old) between the hours of 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 a.m. on Sunday while the mother was at a party.
During the night, one of the children called their mother about a shelf that had fallen in the living room. The mother told the child to let Laderick McClain, 18, come in and fix the shelf. McClain was to leave after the shelf was fixed and did not have permission to reenter the house.
When McClain left the house, the three children say they fell asleep in different rooms.
The victim told police that she was awakened in the early morning hours by the suspect lying on top of her and that her shorts and underwear were pulled down.
The girl managed to push the suspect off of her, and she recognized him as he ran away.
The victim told police the suspect’s name and where he went to school. She also told detectives that McClain was a friend of the family and often visited the home. She identified McClain from his DMV photo.
Officers later arrested McClain at his home on a theft warrant. McClain confessed that he went back to the victim’s home, entered her bedroom and lay on top of her. He also stated that he was aware the victim was underage.
McClain was charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated rape. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
