Bossier City police have arrested a man in connection with a recent string of church burglaries.

Detectives arrested Michael Floyd Lewis, 27, yesterday on burglary charges for breaking into at least five churches over the past several weeks. Some of the churches were burglarized multiple times.

The churches included Barksdale Methodist Church in the 1400 block of Patricia Drive, Waller Baptist Church in the 400 block of Waller Avenue, Bossier Church of Christ in the 2900 block of Foster Street, Bossier Church of the Nazarene in the 500 block of Modica Street and Korean Presbyterian Church in the 1100 block of Dudley. Computers, food and tools were among the items taken.

Officials named Lewis as a suspect in the church burglaries after they identified him as a suspect in a recent residential burglary that happened at Zacks River Village Mobile Home Park in the 2300 block of Barksdale Boulevard.

Lewis was booked into the Bossier City Jail on nine counts of simple burglary of a religious building. He was also charged with one count of simple burglary in connection with the break-in at the mobile home park.
