Bond was set at $150,000 for a man who confessed to killing an 18-year-old from Baton Rouge.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Joel Orozco, 19, of Denham Springs, confessed to investigators after he was questioned about the disappearance of David Nguyen.

Nguyen was reported missing to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office by his mother. She said he was last seen on Saturday, Sept. 14. When detectives identified Orozco in connection to the crime, they enlisted the help of the Livingston Sheriff’s Office.

After he confessed, Orozco took investigators to a location on Clearwater Drive where they found Nguyen’s body and other evidence relative to the crime.

Orozco was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing. They did not provide any additional information regarding a possible motive.
