'Blighted Official' Fred Smith sentenced to over 7 years in prison

Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Former Port Allen Police Chief Fred Smith will spend the next 7 and a half years in prison.
Smith is one of several officials convicted in the Operation: Blighted Officials investigation.
Smith was convicted of taking bribes from a fake trash-can cleaning company called Cipher 5000.
He will also have a year of supervised release, a $17,000 fine, and he'll have to give up about $19,000.
