Bayou burglar: suspect tries to swim to freedom
FRANKLIN, LA (NBC33) — An alleged burglar was arrested after he attempted to flee the area by swimming across a bayou in St. Mary Parish.
The Sheriff’s Department responded to the call of a burglary in progress on Friday, March 9 at around 7:12 p.m. When they arrived to the home on Parish Road in Franklin, a neighbor pointed to the suspect, Danny Fulks Jr., 26, who was seen running from the scene.
Deputies chased the suspect and located him at a nearby bayou. They found him swimming across, and he was met on the other side with a pair of handcuffs.
The items that were taken from the home were located in the suspect’s vehicle, and were valued at around $975.
Fulks home address is listed on the same street where the burglary took place. He was booked into the parish jail and no bond has been set at this time.
