BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - An incident at Club Insomnia that involved a police officer led to a shooting on March 6.

Officers say Ryan Dominique, 21, was driving his car recklessly through the parking lot. Deputies told Dominique to get out of the car; when he wouldn't, they arrested him.

Dominique requested his friend, Carlos Harris, 23, to drive his car home. As Harris attempted to leave the parking lot, he hit several parked cars, including police units.

Harris then accelerated Dominque's car toward a group of officers. Out of fear for his life, one policeman fired, hitting the driver in the chest.

Harris was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Other shots were also fired in the area upon hearing the officers shot. A 23 year-old woman was shot in the arm in the gunplay.

Dominique was charged with Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Resisting Arrest.
