Baton Rouge man taken in on drug charges

A man is behind bars tonight after officers conducted an unrelated search of his home and found drugs.

Narcotic Agents were conducting an investigation in the 4500 block of Earl Gross Ave on April 7.

While there, officers arrested David J. Smith, 21, and seized 154g of Marijuana, 58 doses of Roxycotin, and a stolen .40 caliber Glock pistol.

Smith has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Roxycotin, Illegal Carry of Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Illegal Caring of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.

He was booked into the parish prison.
