Baker man faces several charges after hit and run injures 2

Baker police arrested Jamar Jackson, of Baker, after his involvement in a hit and run on South Magnolia Tuesday night around 6:00 p.m.

Witnesses said they went outside after hearing a loud bang. They found two victims lying in the roadway, Amy Gibson and Kristy Hasty of Denham Springs. Hasty is in Critical condition and Gibson is stable.

Witnesses told police that the driver was Jamar Jackson and that he was driving a black vehicle.

Officers found the suspect’s car not far away. The car had front-end damage, including a broken windshield with clothing fabric embedded in the glass.

Jackson was standing in the street when officers approached him and identified him as the suspect.

Jackson faces several charges, including DWI, vehicular negligent injury, driving under suspension, hit and run, reckless operation of a vehicle, and failure to report an accident.

Jackson’s license had been suspended since 2005. He also had a prior criminal record involving such crimes as disturbing the peace, issuing worthless checks, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, and simple battery.

Hummmm why were two Denham Springs ladies walking around Baker at 6pm anyway. a long way from home huh.....

Guess he will get the book thrown at him and end up with at least 2 years unsupervised probation and time served with the legal system we have in place if we are that lucky .
