John Givens, who represents District 5 on Baker, LA's City Council, turned himself in to Baker Police investigators at 7:30 Thursday morning. On Wednesday, Baker Police issued an arrest warrant for Givens for Theft of Goods and Abuse of Power.

Abdallah Ragusa, who owns Ragusa's Meat Market in Baker, LA, claims Councilman Givens ate a Moon Pie while walking through his store, then discarded the wrapper. When it was time to check out, Ragusa claims Givens had no intention of paying for the Moon Pie he allegedly consumed while walking through the store.

The store owner claims Givens became angry, and pulled out a badge issued to Baker City Council members in an effort to intimidate him. It is a Felony for a public official to show his or her badge in an effort to intimidate a person.

A 19th JDC Judge assigned a $1,000 bond to Givens, who was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on Thursday.

One question, was the moon pie good enough to spend the day in jail, guess the old pull out the council card didnt do the job he thought it would , do the crime do the time, maybe he will get some community service out of the deal, he should have to sweep the store owners parking lot for a week, and of course get his pay in MOON PIES, one a day until he completes his service, bet that moon pie has left a bad taste in his shoplifting mouth, the mayor should be so proud of his council member

John Givens...YOU'RE A MOON PIE!!
