Police are looking for a man they believe may have attempted to rob a bank in Gonzales.

On August 6 at around 11:40 a.m., Gonzales police responded to a call for service at Capital One on South Burnside Ave.

Bank employees called because a subject - a light skinned b/m wearing a long hair wig, a black oval ladies style hat, black scrubs, a black and white checkered pattern “coach” style purse and glasses - was acting suspicious in the lobby of the financial establishment. Bank personnel and customers informed investigators that the subject was very “fidgety” after entering the bank. After appearing to write something on a deposit slip the subject stood in line waiting to approach a teller. The subject after standing in the line for moments then exited the bank in a hurried manner on foot.

Officers were able to track the direction which the subject left the bank to a nearby neighborhood where officers believed a waiting vehicle was used for him to flee the area.

Investigators have discovered that a person of interest had one hour prior to the incident at Capital One Bank went into a local retailer and purchased the same color and type of wig and glasses worn by the suspect at Capital One.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the Gonzales Police Department at 225-647-9572.
