Assumption parish officers arrest 2 teens seen walking with gun

Two 16-year-olds were arrested in Assumption Parish Wednesday after police spotted them walking with a gun along Brule Road around 3:45 p.m.

Officers caught up with the teenagers near a home at the cornor of Willow and Pine Streets.

When they saw the officers coming, the teens dropped what they were carrying and tried to run.

One of the teenagers was quickly caught. The second was later found hiding in a wooded area a few blocks away.

The handgun was recovered by deputies underneath a mobile home. 

The first teenager booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and resisting an officer.

The second teenager was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center underage possession of tobacco and resisting an officer. He was eventually released into his mother’s custody.
