Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who robbed the Dollar General Store in Prairieville on Airline Highway on February 23.

According to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala, a black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask, entered the Dollar General Store armed with a handgun shortly after 7:30 p.m.

After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot headed towards the rear of the store and was seen by an eyewitness running South on Highway 73 towards Highway 42.

The suspect was identified as being a tall, slender man.

During the course of the investigation, video footage was obtained at a nearby business, which showed the suspect driving what is believed to be a gray or silver four-door Chevrolet car with a dent on the passenger side rear quarter panel.

The suspect is seen on video leaving and returning to the vehicle during the time that the robbery occurred.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to our anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
