Arrest warrant secured in fatal Shreveport shooting

Shreveport Police detectives have secured an arrest warrant for a suspect accused of fatally shooting a man near north Shreveport on Tuesday.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on May 7, Shreveport Police officers responded to the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments located in the 2900 block of Peach Street relative to a man who had been shot numerous times.

Upon officers arrival, they located Prentiss Tyre Britton, 21, suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The Shreveport Fire Department rushed Britton to LSUHSC where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, authorities gathered information linking Andrew Smith, 19, to the crime.

Authorities have since procured a warrant for the arrest of Smith charging him with Second-Degree Murder.
