About mid-day on Wednesday, July 25, Sheriff's deputies responded to Lynch's Trailer Park off of Highway 929 after receiving reports of an elderly man being assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in his home. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the elderly man's home unannounced, armed with a handgun. The suspect ripped a phone cord from the wall and wrapped around the victims neck, but fortunately did not tighten it. However, the victim did sustain minor injuries after the suspect slapped him in the head, Bacala said.

Investigators discovered that Stokes was no longer residing in the home on Darville Road and was possibly staying in the Baton Rouge area.
