A man that robbed a Popeye’s with a handgun has been placed under arrest.

On Saturday March 9, Baker police were sent to investigate an armed robbery at Popeye’s Chicken located in the 1900 block of Main Street in Baker.

Employees at Popeye’s stated that two black males had robbed the restaurant at gunpoint. A witness told officers that the suspects fled the scene in a large dark colored sedan-traveling eastbound on Baker Blvd.

Approximately $246 was taken by the suspects. According to employees, one of the men was wearing a blue jacket with stripes.

Two days later, detectives recovered the jacket worn by one of the robbers, Laurance Kevin Scott Wilson, 19, less than half of a mile away from the restaurant. The Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory matched DNA found on the jacket to Wilson.

Also, numerous employees picked Wilson out of a lineup.

On April 2, Baker Police arrested Wilson and charged him with Armed Robbery.
