Amite fugitive arrested on 14 charges

Tangipahoa Parish Deputies have located a fugitive that they have been searching for since January 29.

Just this morning, deputies received information regarding the whereabouts of William David Jenkins, 47, of Amite.

Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of W. Palmatto Street in Amite where they were able to identify Jenkins.

When they spotted him, Jenkins fled from deputies on foot. After refusing to comply to the deputies' demands, a K9 unit was used to detain Jenkins.

Jenkins was detained; however, he continued to aggressively resist arrest. After a brief struggle, Jenkins was subdued and transported to the Parish Jail.

Jenkins was taken into custody and charged with 14 Offenses:

Active Warrants:
4 counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Legendary Drug
1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
2 counts of Possession of CDS II
1 count of Battery on a Police Officer
1 count of Obstruction of a Roadway
2 counts of Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence

Additional charges from today (3.6.13):
2 counts of Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence
1 count of Battery on a Police Dog. .
