RAPIDES PARISH, LA — A Rapides Parish man has been arrested after burglarizing a home.
On April 13 at around 7:50 a.m., Rapides Parish deputies were dispatched to a home in the 5300 block Oaklane Road in Tioga in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of an abandoned residence called in by a concerned citizen.
When they arrived, deputies saw a vehicle in the driveway and heard noises in the living room as if someone was moving furniture in the residence. Detectives, who were also out on patrol, responded to the scene.
Authorities staged their vehicles where all exit points could be covered and then observed Dean Allen White, 44 of Alexandria, exiting the residence from the attic through a broken board over the car-port. The suspect was immediately detained and taken into custody.
White told deputies he had climbed through the attic in order to use the bathroom.
After the residence was searched and no other suspects found, the owner of the home was contacted and arrived minutes later. The owner stated that the residence had been burglarized on numerous occasions and was not usable in its current shape due to previous damage. Several screwdrivers, wire pliers, and other burglary tools were found inside the home.
White was placed under arrest and charged with Simple Burglary, Criminal Trespassing, Criminal Damage, and Possession of Burglary Tools. Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing as this suspect may be connected to more burglaries in the area.
