Accused copper thief being held on $155,000 bond in Livingston Parish

A 35-year-old man is locked in parish prison for stealing copper from multiple air conditioning units, causing roughly $56,000 in damage. His total bond sits at $155,000.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation began on Sunday, Sept. 15. Deputies were called to the Crossroads Storage Facility on Hwy. 16 in regards to the theft.

Officials say the copper wiring was removed from 7 units. Investigators reviewed security video footage and identified Jared Fedric of Denham Springs as a suspect.

Fedric was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 19 with the assistance of the Denham Springs Police Department.

Investigators also connected Fedric to numerous other copper thefts within the parish. Booking records indicate that he received additional charges on Sept. 23 and then again on Sept. 30.

Fedric was arrested and charged with Theft (felony), Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Simple Burglary, and Theft of Copper (felony – 4 counts). He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
