99 arrests made in truancy roundup
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Ninety-nine arrests were made in a two-day truancy roundup conducted by the Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Constables Office.
The Family Youth Service Center sent law enforcement 148 cases for follow-up.
The cases involved students with unexcused absences, focusing on those with excessive absences.
One or both parents of the juveniles were summonsed and charged with Improper Supervision of a Minor.
Officers also checked parents for outstanding warrants and booked them in the EBRP Prison where applicable.
As of Thursday, Dec. 12, 49 cases are still open for investigation and possible arrests.
