A Houma man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly physically abused his girlfriend of 15 years while he was intoxicated.

The Houma Police Department reports that the investigation began on Sunday, April 7 after someone called 911 and hung up. When investigators went to the home on A Bonvillain Street they learned about the victim and the incident.

Officials say the suspect, Ben I. Kenny, 47, arrived at the residence and was intoxicated. He reportedly caused a disturbance and then grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and threw her against the wall. That caused her to fall to the ground and he allegedly got on top of her and began choking her.

Kenny was reportedly hiding in the bathroom of the home when investigators arrived. They located him and placed him under arrest after learning about the violence.

Kenny was arrested for Domestic Abuse Battery (Strangulation). He was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice center.
