According to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator, an 82-year-old Shreveport man was arrested by Caddo deputies this morning for stabbing his 73-year-old niece with a steak knife.

Freddie Guy, of the 200 block of East Flournoy Lucas Road, called 911 after he stabbed his niece, Janie Beaird, while she slept around 5:00 a.m.

The two have lived together for the past three years. The stabbing was the result of years of domestic squabbles and tension, according to Caddo Detective Jason Morgan.

Beaird was taken to LSUHSC where she was undergoing surgery this morning for multiple stab wounds in the upper body.

Guy was taken to Caddo Correctional Center where he is expected to be booked for Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

According to the Director of the Domestic Violence Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana consistently ranks in the top 10 for domestic violence homicides. Click here to learn more about the issues related to domestic violence in Louisiana.
