77-year old homeowner thwarts attempted burglary

BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) – One Baton Rouge resident came home to find an unwelcomed surprise. The Baton Rouge Police report that the homeowner thwarted the robbery before they could burglarize the home.

A 77-year old resident came home to find a car he didn’t recognize in his driveway. After copying the license plate number, he went around to the back of the home to find the door kicked in. He used a piece of the broken door frame as a makeshift weapon, and then entered the home to find the two burglars.

The suspected and his accomplice ran out of the home. Fortunately, the homeowner had the license plate number and detectives were able to track it back to a residence on Dutton Street.

The officers arrested Delarryo Taylor, 23, for Aggravated Burglary, Simple Burglary of Inhabited Dwelling, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Marijuana.

The second suspect, Michael Jackson, 19, of Baker for Aggravated Burglary and Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling.

Both have been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
