Toddler dies after being shot by family member

A two-year-old child died this morning after being accidentally shot by a family member.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Monday, January 21 at roughly 6:33 p.m. at a home located on Jean Street. We’re told Terrance Varise, 18, was playing with a handgun when it fired and shot the child, Tarvin Varise.

The child was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The toddler was pronounced dead in the early morning on Tuesday, January 22.

Terrance Varise was arrested and charged with Negligent Homicide. Varise is also a convicted felon, so he was additionally charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Maybe if he was in jail for the felony conviction where he belongs this would not have happened in the first place, and also how could a parent not know he had a gun in her house with a young child there also, was she there when he was playing with a gun and shot the child, there may be more than is being said to this case. No child shoud be put in those conditions that could cause him harm, another innocent life taken by a stupid act by a stupid punk.

first of all you dont know him so dont judge him and he's 19 years old! he's labeled as an adult so why should his parent have to know if he has a gun or not!
