2 Charged in New Iberia meth lab investigation
New Iberia, LA (NBC33) — Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two New Iberia suspects in connection with a methamphetamine lab discovered in the 600 block of McDonald Street on Monday around 11:30 p.m.
Patrol officers discovered the meth lab while responding to a domestic dispute. The occupants of the residence and three other nearby homes were evacuated as HAZMAT crews secured the area.
Three deputies and two adult residents got decontamination treatment at the scene.
Charles Frederick Jr., 33, and Elizabeth McDowell, 32, face charges of Manufacture of Schedule II Narcotics, Creation and Operation of a Clandestine Lab, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Frederick was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. McDowell was taken to the hospital after complaining about an unspecified illness. She will be booked into jail after her release from the hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing.
