2 arrested in purse snatching
BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) — On Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, two Napoleonville men were arrested for a Purse Snatching.
Assumption Parish Dispatch Center received a call around 11:00 a.m. reporting that two men grabbed a womans purse and that she was running behind them in the area of St.Ann Catholic Church. A citizen saw the men running and told them to "drop the purse and the cops were coming." The subjects dropped the purse and a gun and continued running.
While the Sheriff and deputies were responding, Joe Young, saw one of the men attempting to hide. The subject was apprehended.
Travonta Ausama, of Napoleonville, confessed to his involvement and identified the other subject as Skiler Rhodes of Belle Rose. Rose turned himself in the next day. Both subjects are currently being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
Bonds have not yet been set.
The victim was an elderly woman from Marshall, Texas who was in town for a memorial service being held at St. Anne Catholic Church. She was not injured and all of her belongs were returned.
