TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WGNO) — "My concern is I'm hoping that the baby makes it right now, that the baby makes it, and I can get her outta jail, said Al Guillory, father of a newborn clinging to life in a New Orleans hospital.
Guillory says it's like a bad dream, and he can't wake up--the mother of his child arrested, the newborn fighting for life.
Terrebonne Parish deputies got a frantic 911 call from the family's home on Bayou Black drive.
That's were they found the one-month-old unconscious.
"The information we have is that the baby was being shaken by the mother and also thrown into the crib,” said investigators.
"Why? Aggravated of the baby crying and just not having the education and experience to be able to know exactly why the child is behaving that way."
Investigators say the child suffered brain hemorrhaging and several skull fractures.
He had to be flown to children's hospital in New Orleans.
Nineteen-year-old Tina Simpson was taken into custody and charged with attempted second-degree murder.
Guillory says she wouldn't intentionally harm her firstborn child.
"I mean, she’s a good parent. I don't see her doing anything like that on purpose. Me personally, I think she dropped the baby and was scared to tell my momma cause she knows my momma was going to fuss with it."
Late Wednesday, investigators returned to the home asking more questions.
Guillory is asking for prayers from the public.
"Most of all we need prayer. That's the main thing. I just want to see her get out of all this and my baby come home safe.”
